Tanjung Puting is the national park in central Kalimantan. Tanjung Puting is mainly visited to come face to face with the orangutans. A klotok takes you across the river from Pangkalabun to Camp Leaky, home to the orangutan rehabilitation center. As soon as you go ashore you can see the orangutans in the trees and sometimes even on the jetty.
In the center, actually an island between the rivers, the great apes live freely and you will be guided by a local ranger during your trekking in the forest. A little further upstream you will find a lot more wildlife and you can make jungle treks on less traveled paths.

This simple eco lodge is located on the Sekonyer River, near the entrance to the Camp Leakey centre for orang utans.
