Metita Beach & Dive resort - Morotai -

Opened in 2022, the Metita Beach & Dive resort is located on the small island of Pulau Metita, south of Morotai. The luxurious eco-friendly resort will have 6 rooms in 2023, divided over 5 beach cottages and 1 family garden cottage.
The resort has its own diving center, a wonderful restaurant, a spa and wellness center and a swimming pool.

We not yet know how many dive sites we will discover, already now we know around 40. And you can help us explore more and give the divesite a name! As Morotai lies far abroad the beaten paths of Indonesia we see it as our chance to discover yet unknown divesites and as our responsibility to ensure that they are treated in a sustainable way.

Empty line-ups with consistent waves - a surfers dream
The northern Moluccas in general and Morotai in particular are suitable for surfers who are looking for empty LineUps, off the beaten Indonesian paths. The swells, which cause waves in the northern Moluccas, spring from the same storm systems which provide, for the surfers at the time still more well-known, waves in the Philippines / Siargao. The peak season for waves is from late October, early November to March. In these months, the traveling surfer can expect consistent, mid-sized and varied reef waves, with almost no other surfer in the line-up.

Metita resort organizes various tours on Morotai island and Halmahera. Morotai Island, just a 10-minute boatride away from Metita, offers splendid hiking opportunities for those who are enthusiastic about discovering untouched forests inhabited by beautiful paradise birds and with hidden romantic waterfalls. One of the highest and most beautiful is Raja Waterfall with almost 80m from basin to top edge. There are large caves as adventurous as back in the times of the first Europeans coming here.

The vast history of Morotai as an important bastion for the Allies in WW2 is still visible in countless artefacts as well as the history as spice and silver islands of Indonesia and the Western World. Until today the smell of cloves drying in the sun and nutmeg during harvest season is overwhelming and silver jewellery is a popular gift.

In day trips we will also offer tours to the mainland of Halmahera and climb one of the world’s most active volcanos – the Dukono. 1.185m high, it spits ashes almost 365 days a year, which makes it still uncomplicated to go up to the crater. In case the activity temporarily rises this tour is not possible.
