Sarangan

Sarangan is located halfway between Madiun and Solo on the volcanic lake of Sarangan. Due to its location in the mountains, there is a cooler climate here and is therefore a popular holiday resort for Indonesians. There are relatively few foreign tourists. You can relax here or walk around the lake to the Niagara Tirtasari waterfall. Or do like the locals: take a boat trip on the lake.
Hotel Sarangan is one of the few hotels in the area. The hotel was built in the 1930s and has basic amenities, but a heater! From the veranda you have a magnificent view over the lake.
