Kampung Padi - Nagrak
This special guesthouse is located in a mountainous area in the village of Nagrak, south of Bogor, west Java. It has a beautiful view over the somewhat lower rice fields.
Kampung Padi consists of 5 completely different detached bungalows and a beautiful 18th century Arjuna Joglo as a common area. The travel-loving owner is an avid collector of art. Everywhere you see authentic works of art and antiques from Indonesia and South East Asia. The design of the houses is more or less determined by her collection.
All rooms are equipped with fan, bathroom, TV and kettle.
Facilities:
You eat in the Joglo. Kampung Padi prepares Indonesian dishes with fruit and vegetables from the garden. The menu changes every day. A great cook. If you have special wishes, she likes to hear that. Try the specialty of the cook: Nasi bakar (nasi goreng with salted fish).
The rule of thumb of the guesthouse is that you are not a hotel guest but part of the Kampung Padi family and the Desa Pawenang community. You can harvest rice, pick durians or (during the rice harvest) pickle eels with the local population and experience daily village life.
Kampung Padi is a great base for wonderful walks through the rice fields to surrounding villages.
There is much to see and do in this non-tourist area. From hiking in the immediate vicinity, jungle tracking in Gunung Halimun National Park to an extreme motorbike ride over a very narrow steep path to an artificial lake in the Situgunung Natural Park or rafting in Citarek and Citatih Rivers.
