Prambanan tempelcomplex - Yogyakarta
Located about 17 kilometers east of Yogyakarta, the Prambanan temple complex is the largest Hindu-Javanese complex in Indonesia. The temples were built around the eighth century, but were abandoned quite shortly afterwards, so that the complex is quite dilapidated. The reconstruction did not start until the early twentieth century, which has not yet been completed. In total there would have been 244 'temples', including three main temples.
It is possible to hire a guide on site.
